Taylor Swift (00:01):

Mind blown. Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (00:04):

Taylor Swift made history and announced new music. We got major performances from musical icons. Jay-Z called out The Recording Academy, and artists like Miley Cyrus won big. It’s music’s biggest night and we’re breaking it all down. This is the 2024 Grammys.

(00:20)
Dua Lipa kicked off the big night with an epic opening medley performance of her hits, including Barbie’s Dance The Night, and Houdini.

Speaker 2 (00:31):

Trevor Noah returned to emcee the show for the fourth year in a row. Cracking up the crowd for usual while acknowledging this year’s nominees. And also, giving a special shout out to Taylor Swift and the NFL while praising the artist Grammy run thus far. As for early wins of the night, Miley Cyrus won her first ever Grammy and gave her first live televised performance of Flowers.

Miley Cyrus (00:53):

I just won my first Grammy.

Speaker 2 (00:56):

Outside of Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Burna Boy, and more also worked the crowd with live renditions of their biggest hits. Standouts for the night included this year’s most nominated artist, SZA, performing a medley of her hit songs including Kill Bill.

SZA (01:11):

Speaker 2 (02:11):

The big highlight of the night was, of course, Taylor Swift, who no biggie, but won her lucky number 13th Grammy win for a pop vocal album, and casually announced her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, will drop April 19th.

Taylor Swift (02:25):

It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you. I love you.

Speaker 2 (02:33):

Other notable wins included Karol G, SZA and Jay-Z, who took home the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award and also called out the Grammys for continuously snubbing Beyonce for Album of the Year.

Jay-Z (02:45):

But she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year. So, even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that.

Speaker 2 (02:54):

And for the big winners of the night, Victoria Monét took home best new artist.

Victoria Monét (02:58):

Thank you God.

Speaker 2 (03:03):

Billie Eilish and Finneas won Song of the Year for What Was I Made For from the Barbie soundtrack.

Billie Eilish (03:08):

Wow. I am shocked out of my balls.

Speaker 2 (03:13):

Miley Cyrus took home her second Grammy for Record of the Year.

Miley Cyrus (03:17):

Thank you all so much. I don’t think I forgot anyone, but I might have forgotten underwear. Bye.

Speaker 2 (03:22):

And Celine Dion presented the coveted Album of the Year award to Taylor Swift who made history as the artist with the most Album of the Year wins.

Taylor Swift (03:31):

It makes me unbelievably blown away that it makes some people happy who voted for this award too. All I want to do is keep doing this, so thank you so much for giving me the opportunity.
