Flooded roads cause problems in Dallas/Fort Worth Transcript
There was flooding near downtown Dallas/Fort Worth overnight. Read the transcript here.
Speaker 1: (00:00) ... Town, Fort Worth. There was flooding as well. Tim: (00:02) Yeah. Dan is live, with a look at the worst of it, and the situation right now. Good morning. Dan Godwin: (00:10) Good morning, Tim. This is just one of countless locations around the metroplex, where there has been potentially dangerous flooding this morning. Behind me, you can see an indication of just what problems that drivers encountered here. There is at least one car that we can see that's been left partially on the sidewalk. We are near the intersection of Norwood and Bledsoe in Fort Worth, just north of the Farrington Field stadium. Floodwater here reached really high levels in the hours after midnight, up to car windows and higher. We spoke with one woman who found herself trapped in a car she was a passenger in. Daniela Gonzalez says, very quickly, the rising water meant the vehicle wouldn't move. Daniela Gonzalez: (01:01) It locked. The car shut down. And it set itself on park. We couldn't get it out. We tried to push it out. All the water came flooding in, so we kind of had to swim out of the car. Grabbed our belongings. This was a 10 minute episode, where it just flooded everything, and so many cars got stuck. There's, what, five cars here? Yeah. Dan Godwin: (01:31) Daniela Gonzalez says the car she was in had to be pushed off the street, because it wouldn't run. Now, here is some more video, shot this morning, not too far from this location. Again, some really high water. We can see the driver of a pickup truck making his way through the flooding. Fort Worth Police Department says, between 8:00 PM last night and 5:00 AM this morning, the police department here says it responded to 53 calls relating to water emergencies, but none of those incidents resulted in any injuries or loss of life, thankfully. We can also tell you that, just in the last 10 or 15 minutes, the volume of rain that's now falling has increased noticeably. Reporting live in Fort Worth. Dan Godwin on Good Day.
