Announcing: Rev AI is Now HIPAA Compliant
Rev now has all of the appropriate safeguards in place to protect the security and confidentiality of Protected Health Information PHI data
We are thrilled to announce that as of March 31, 2022, Rev AI is HIPAA-compliant!
This is a major update for our AI platform as we will be able to enter into a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with customers in healthcare and other regulated industries to protect the integrity of their end users’ Protected Health Information (PHI) data in accordance with the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Paired with our existing SOC2 compliance standard, we will now be able to also serve our best-in-class Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) model to the enterprise to help understand every human voice.
“We are proud to announce that Rev AI is now HIPAA-compliant, allowing us to bring our best in class AI speech-to-text platform to customers in the healthcare industry. This milestone further demonstrates our commitment to protecting customer data and continuously enhancing our Security capabilities.”
said Brian Byrne, Rev’s Chief Security Officer.
What is HIPAA?
The HIPAA Privacy Rule establishes national standards to protect individuals’ medical records and other health information and applies to health plans, health care clearinghouses, and those health care providers that conduct certain health care transactions electronically. The Rule requires appropriate safeguards to protect the privacy of health information, and sets limits and conditions on the uses and disclosures that may be made of such information without patient authorization. The Rule also gives patients rights over their health information, including rights to examine and obtain a copy of their health records, and to request corrections. Here you can find a summary of the HIPAA Privacy rule.
What does HIPAA compliance mean for Rev AI?
Rev AI’s HIPAA compliance means that Rev AI’s ASR has all of the appropriate safeguards in place to protect the security and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) data that may persist in audio, custom vocabulary, and transcript files sent by our customers. We help our customers working in the education, media, and healthcare verticals tackle new use-cases which may contain PHI data. This also opens up completely new opportunities for companies and healthcare professionals to leverage the world’s best ASR engine for their voice applications. Tired of seeing Dragon or Google miss or misspell medical terminology? Rev AI can help with that.
What can we offer our customers?
Be it legal depositions, customer care, telehealth, medical conferences; anyone considering the use of an ASR for their application can now take advantage of Rev AI’s API knowing that we can be your trusted ASR provider with the world’s most accurate speech engine safeguarded by all of the strictest privacy protections. As we always have, we will continue to expand our industry-leading lexicon and speech model to outperform our competition and make sure that your use-case is served by our platform.
“As a leader in transcription and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) on a mission to understand every human voice and unlock the full potential of speech for everyone, everywhere, we are beyond thrilled to expand into new markets that require HIPAA compliance, and thus getting us one step closer to our vision,”
said Migüel Jetté, Head of AI at Rev.
