Tell us about yourself.
I’m Evan and I’m from Rochester, New York. I have a couple of freelance gigs. One is creating online courses in the health and wellness space, and then, of course, I’m also a Revver.
Outside of work, I’m a competitive runner. I’ve been into that for 13 years, so I make it a point to go for a run every day.
Why do you freelance with Rev?
I like that it’s so open-ended; you work on what you want when you want to. It’s super flexible and simple; you complete projects and you get paid every week. I also like that I can choose what types of projects to work on based on my interests. I can even choose to work on files that have an automatically-generated first draft if I don’t feel like typing as much.

How did you learn about Rev and why did you choose to work as a transcriptionist?
Since I primarily work from home, I started looking for other things I could do to fill up my time. As I was searching online, I found Rev and thought “Wow, this looks pretty great. It’s so simple to get started too.” And it really was!

What do you enjoy most about working from home?
Not having to go anywhere is definitely the best aspect for me. I’ve developed good habits, like sitting at a desk when I’m working because that’s where I’m the most productive. I really like not having to worry about being on a tight schedule. I usually alternate between building online courses and transcribing throughout the day.
What has your experience been like working for Rev?
It’s definitely been positive overall. I get up every day and work on the digital courses I build and supplement it with transcribing with Rev. I usually don’t work on the weekends, but the nice thing is, if I get really busy during the week and don’t get in enough hours with Rev, I know exactly what I need to do to reach my goals. And I have the flexibility to catch up when it’s convenient for me. A few weeks ago, I couldn’t sleep and it was one o’clock in the morning, so I signed onto Rev and worked on some projects. It’s as simple as that; you can earn an income whenever.

The single best thing about Rev that I definitely wasn’t expecting is how good the communication with freelancers is and how professional it is. It’s more than I expected from a company that you can literally just sit at home and freelance for. It’s always really nice to get Rev’s emails and see the company be really open about everything.
What are the most memorable projects you’ve picked up through Rev?
I usually find myself choosing projects in the legal field, they usually have very interesting content.
What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
I studied abroad in Peru in 2015 because I majored in Spanish in college.
