The Rev team is proud to announce we are partnering with the Film Festival Alliance as an accessibility partner and captions provider. Through our partnership, Rev will help educate film festival professionals on the value and benefits of accessibility, as well as provide captions to help filmmakers and festivals reach wider audiences.

In the past year, film festivals have placed a renewed focus on accessibility. As filmmakers, distributors, and audiences were forced to stay indoors, festival organizers around the world had to host events virtually, making accessibility a vital consideration.

Established in 2015, the FFA is a non-profit networking organization that serves more than 180 organizations and individuals across the film festival community. The FFA advocates for a sustainable and inclusive environment within the cinema exhibition ecosystem and creates a collective voice for film festivals and the people who run them. The organization presents year-round professional development and engagement opportunities across the country, offering valuable money-saving benefits and a collective community for festival professionals.

Rev will be a presenting sponsor of FFA’s upcoming FilmEx Conference, which provides workshops, training, and crucial conversations for members of the film festival industry. During the conference, we’ll provide educational opportunities around the value of captions and how to make your film or exhibition more accessible. Plus, we’ll also provide discounted captioning services to FFA filmmakers.

“More and more film festivals are requiring captions on all films,” said Rev Founder and CEO Jason Chicola. “We’re honored to partner with FFA and its members to make films more accessible to all viewers. This is a step in the right direction toward unlocking the full potential of speech for everyone, everywhere.”

Rev has served the media and entertainment space for years, and we’re thrilled to add the FFA to our list of industry partners. In January 2021, Rev served as the official accessibility partner and captions provider for the Sundance Film Festival (a member of the FFA). Using Rev’s services, the festival made more than 6,780 minutes of video more accessible by adding captions. The partnership helped Sundance’s virtual festival reach its largest-ever audience.

“FFA is looking forward to our partnership with Rev and the benefits it will provide to our membership and filmmakers,” said FFA Executive Director Lela Meadow-Conner. “As we move closer towards supporting the accessibility of cinema, this is a vital step to engage the independent filmmaking and exhibition communities in this initiative.”
