Rev Announces Partnership with International Documentary Association
Rev has partnered with the International Documentary Association as their official accessibility partner and closed caption provider.
Rev is thrilled to announce that we are an official accessibility partner and closed caption provider for the International Documentary Association (IDA). Our partnership will help documentarians make their films more accessible to wider audiences, while also allowing them to streamline production and distribution workflows.
Whether it’s a harrowing work of investigative journalism or a character study of a unique subject, documentary filmmaking highlights vital, vibrant stories from around the world. As the preferred caption provider for IDA members, the Rev team is honored to help these innovative storytellers expand the reach of their work.
“We’re excited to have Rev as our newest partner to make all of our screenings more accessible to our community,” said Ruzelle Castillo, Public Programs & Events Manager at IDA.
Rev’s full suite of industry-leading speech-to-text services can help filmmakers automate editing and production processes — with interactive transcripts, creators can quickly find the golden moments in their raw footage and build their stories more efficiently.
“Even beyond captions, documentary creators can use transcripts to dig deeper into their stories and create faster,” said Rev Founder and CEO Jason Chicola. “We’re honored to partner with the IDA and its members to make their process easier and their films more accessible.”
Founded by Linda Buzzell in 1982, the IDA started as an intimate community of like-minded film professionals, eager to expand the impact, scope, and reach of the documentary genre. Today, the IDA provides production and development grants directly to documentary filmmakers and helps them fundraise for their projects through the Fiscal Sponsorship Program. Advocacy efforts have also become an integral part of IDA’s mission—by issuing call-to-actions and public statements, as well as creating a global network of organizations, IDA has been involved in issues such as net neutrality, fair use, and government arts funding, as well as defending filmmakers’ First Amendment rights.
Rev has served the media and entertainment space for years, and we’re thrilled to add IDA to our list of industry partners. In January 2022, Rev once again served as the official accessibility partner and captions provider for the Sundance Film Festival. Rev has also partnered with Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and their annual Fantastic Fest film festival to expand accessibility tools for filmmakers and audiences alike.
“As more and more festivals require captioning, our new partnership with Rev will provide IDA members with a discount so that they can ensure all viewers are able to fully experience their films,” said Veronica Monteyro, Membership & Individual Giving Manager at IDA.
