For decades, actor Andre Braugher captivated audiences on television and in theaters with his wide range of dramatic and comedic roles.

But tonight, colleagues, co-stars, and fans are shocked and saddened after learning the acclaimed actor has died after a brief illness. The Emmy Award-winning actor, best known for his work on Homicide: Life on the Street and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, including his feature film debut in the Academy Award-winning film, Glory.

Tonight, Andre Braugher is being remembered for his loving personality, his unforgettable smile, and his amazing talent. KTLA’s Carlos Saucedo is here with a look at his career. Carlos.

Micah and Cher, he’s considered one of Hollywood’s most respected actors. Andre Braugher died today following a brief illness, according to his rep, but we don’t know the official cause of death. The longtime actor had a number of credits to his name, both in TV and film. Known for his comedic roles as much as for his dramatic scenes.

Son. Braugher made viewers laugh with his role on the NBC sitcom, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Playing the dry and serious police captain Raymond Holt for eight seasons. His co-star Terry Crews posted the following tribute on social media. This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much. I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you.

He portrayed another detective on the critically acclaimed gritty crime drama series, Homicide Life on the Street, for which he won an Emmy in 1998. His first. Braugher won a second Emmy for his work in the 2006 miniseries, Thief. Other TV credits include Men of a Certain Age, Gideon’s Crossing, and Law and Order: SVU.

The multifaceted actor of rose to fame. Appearing in the 1989 Oscar nominated Civil War Drama, Glory. Alongside an all-star cast, including Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman. Throughout his illustrious career, Braugher received 11 Emmy nominations for his work. Braugher is survived by his mother, wife, and their three sons. He was 61 years old. Micah and Cher
