Harvey Mason Jr. (00:07):

Hey, everyone. I'm Harvey Mason, Jr., songwriter, music producer, and CEO of the Recording Academy. I'm so excited to welcome you to announce our 67th annual Grammy Awards nomination. I look forward to this day, all year long as it marks the official start to Grammy season, a 12-week period where the world comes together to celebrate music. Music is an indelible part of the human experience, a powerful force for good in this world, a natural resource that binds us together like nothing else can. The people who create music deserve an organization dedicated to their well-being, which is exactly why the Recording Academy exists, to fight for their rights in policy-making arenas to offer training and career opportunities to provide direct support for those in need, and yes, to celebrate and honor the music they create, to shine a spotlight on excellence and lift up music makers everywhere.

(01:04)
We kick off the season today by announcing the Grammy nominees. Then it moves to Miami next week where the Latin Grammys are being held on November 14th. The celebration continues through the holidays with two Grammy specials airing on CBS in December. And of course, it all culminates with the 67th Grammy Awards on February 2nd, which can be watched on CBS and Paramount+. The Grammy is music's most coveted award because it's a music people honoring music people. All the nominees that are announced today and the eventual Grammy winners are voted on by the 13,000 artists, songwriters, engineers, producers and other music creators who qualify as Recording Academy voting members. They do the hard work of evaluating some 20,000 entries, and then cast their ballots. The acclaimed accounting firm of Deloitte tallies the votes, and then we announce the results. That's it. It's the whole process. And that's also the reason so many artists thank their peers. To learn more about the Grammy voters, please visit grammy.com.
