Let’s just say I wish I could tell you all my son was savvy and he didn’t get nervous. After a while, he was disciplined and he said, “Yes, yes.” The president said to him, “Thank you for helping your mom win this election because you made sacrifices, too.” No cameras heard that. That wasn’t recorded, but that is who the man Pennsylvania and Philadelphia has referred to as our sweet… Remember, remember, we called him our third United States Senator for Pennsylvania when he was there in the United States Senate. I also need you to know this and, Mr. Chairman, this is important to get the facts on the record because people have to understand that this is not simply about politics. Part of why we are working so hard to make this matter to people is that they’ve got to connect this to their everyday lives. So if you are in Philadelphia and you want to know what a Biden-Harris administration has meant to you, let me tell you that your mayor has only been here for nine and a half months.
(01:09)
Nine and a half… No, but the numbers change, whomever said that number. It’s not that. Now it represents over $900 million in federal funds. And guess what it paid for? Guess what the Biden-Harris administration sent to Philadelphia? Dollars for roads, bridges, highways, SEPTA, housing, the ports, clean water, clean energy, and so many other things that we need to move our city forward. So we need to know when we are talking about our president, Joe Biden, who put his country first for so many years of his career, we cannot ever forget the courage, the strength, the dignity, and diplomacy it took for us to be here at this moment. Let me hear you say, “Thank you, Mr. President.” Finally, let me say this about Kamala Harris and let me tell you why we’ve got to get excited. How many of y’all have ever heard of Langston Hughes? If Langston Hughes was going to describe Kamala Harris, he would say, “Life for Kamala ain’t been no crystal stair.” She knows what it’s like to come from the middle class. Raised by her mother. Knows what it’s like to go to work every day. Listen, HBCU grad, Divine 9 member, committed to her family but still understands the importance of putting people first. Let me say this to you and you all had to feel it when the first time you ever heard her say it. Here I am, as your mayor talking about I want to make Philadelphia the safest, cleanest, greenest big city in the nation with economic opportunity for all. And we hear our presidential candidates say we’re going to have an opportunity economy here in the United States of America that she is going to make a priority and no more will the middle class just get by.
(03:18)
They will be able to not just survive, but to thrive. I need each and every one of you who are here right now to put your ones in the air. Put your ones in the air. People are doubting you. They’re thinking we won’t have it. They’re thinking we won’t turn out. But I know the commitment to each of you from neighborhoods across the city, and you’re going to do what we do better than anybody else. We going to turn out, Philly. Let me hear you say one Philly.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
One Philly.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Bob Casey, Eugene DePasquale, our son, Malcolm Kenyatta, we’re going to turn out Philly. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
All right. Thank you, Madam Mayor. Next our Lieutenant Governor, Austin Davis. Austin.
Austin Davis (04:15):
Thank you. Thank you. Hello, Philly Democrats. Are you fired up? Look, I am so glad to be with you because Philadelphia is a city of history makers. I know and I saw it and I lived it in 2022 when you took me a state representative and made me Pennsylvania’s first black lieutenant governor. I’ve seen it, I’ve lived it. I’ve seen it when you took Joanna McClinton and made her the first black woman to be the speaker of the Pennsylvania House. And we’re going to do it again when we make Kamala Harris our next president. Look, this election is real simple for me. Many of you know I became a dad for the first time a year ago and for the first time, I want my baby girl to grow up in a world where she can see herself represented as the President of the United States. And I know we’ve been having a little bit of a debate. I see a lot of brothers in the room and I want to send a message that brothers are 10 toes down for Kamala Harris.
(05:24)
We’re going to work to make sure not only is she in the White House, but do we send a team with her back to the White House, to make sure we send Bob Casey back to the United States Senate, to make sure we send Dwight Evans back to the United States Congress, to make sure we send Brendan Boyle back. We need to make sure we send a team that helps her deliver real results for working-class people to help her create that opportunity economy for all of us that doesn’t just help us get by, but helps us get ahead. We’ve got three weeks, and I know we’ve all said this in the last few election cycles, but this truly is the most important election of our lifetime. Our basic, fundamental rights and freedoms are on the line from a woman’s right to choose to make her own reproductive healthcare decisions to our fundamental right to vote. I’ve been telling people to vote in this election to make sure you can vote in future elections.
(06:20)
So Philly, for the next three weeks, let’s organize, let’s mobilize, let’s turn out the vote, and make history in electing Kamala Harris as our next president.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Thank you all. Guess what? We’re coming right back with the President of the United States in two seconds. Thank you.
MUSIC (08:43):
Who’s around when the days feel long? Who’s around when you can’t be strong? Who’s around when you’re losing your mind? Who cares that you get home safe? Who knows you can’t be replaced? Who thinks that you’re one of a kind? Somebody misses you when you’re away. They wanna wake up with you everyday. Somebody wants to hear you say, ooh somebody loves you. Ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you.
(08:43)
I’m around when your head is heavy. I’m around when your hands aren’t steady. I’m around when your day’s gone all wrong. I care that you feel at home, ’cause I know that you feel alone. I think you’re going to miss me when I’m gone. Somebody misses you when you’re away. They wanna wake up with you everyday. Somebody wants to hear you say… Ooh somebody loves you. Ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you.
(09:55)
Why don’t you come on over? Why don’t you lay me down? Does the pain feel better when I’m around? If I am good to you, won’t you be good to me? That’s how easy this should be. Somebody misses you when you’re away. Somebody misses you, baby. They wanna wake up with you everyday. They wanna wake up with you. Somebody wants to hear you say… Oh they want you to say. Ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you, ooh somebody loves you.

Tryna rain, tryna rain on the thunder. Tell the storm I’m new, I’m a wall, come and march on the regular. Painting white flags blue. Lord forgive me, I’ve been running, running blind. In truth, I’ma rain, I’ma rain on this bitter love. Tell the sweet I’m new. I’m telling these tears, go and fall away, fall away. May the last one burn into flames. May the last one burn into flames.

Freedom, freedom, I can’t move, Freedom, cut me loose. Singin’, freedom, freedom, where are you? ‘Cause I need freedom too. I break chains all by myself, won’t let my freedom rot in hell. Hey! I’ma keep running because a winner don’t quit on themselves.

Announcer (16:57):
Please welcome Congressman Bob Brady, Chairman of the Philadelphia Democratic Party accompanied by Senator Street, Mayor Parker and Lieutenant Governor Davis.
Audience (17:23):
Wahoo! Yeah! Wahoo!
Bob Brady (17:24):
Where’s the rest of my gang? Oh, they’re here.
Audience member (17:26):
Over here.
Bob Brady (17:28):
Listen, thank you all. Thank you for your patience. But we do have our special guest that’s here right now. I got to tell you a little story. Saturday night, I’m home relaxing for a change late at night and I get a phone call. He says, “Hey, Bobby.” I said, “Yeah.” Not many people call me Bobby. He said, “It’s Joe.” I said, “Hey, Mr. President.” He said, “No, it’s Joe.” I said, “Hey, Mr. President.” He says, “Guess what?” He says, “I didn’t get invited to your cocktail party.” I said, “You’re invited to every single one.” He said, “I’m going to be there. I’m canceling my trip. I’m coming to say hello to everybody in Philadelphia.” I said, “You can’t beat that respect.” It gets better. Yesterday, I get a call from the White House. They want to know if I’m wearing a tie because I don’t wear a tie.
(18:12)
The president wants to know if he’s got to wear a tie. I said, “You can come in pajamas for all we care. We want you. We want you.” But let me tell you something, President Biden has been a friend of ours for 50 years.
Audience (18:24):
Yeah! Yeah!
Bob Brady (18:25):
He was our senator. Even though he’s from Delaware, he was our vice president and now he’s our president. And let me tell you something, he’ll show what a great president he was. Not many people will do the sacrifice that he did. Not many people put the country first. So when he told me of his decision, he said to me, “It’s a good decision. I didn’t pick this lady for vice president just to be the vice president. I picked her to prime her maybe to be the president someday.” And that day’s going to come in three weeks! In three weeks.
Audience (18:55):
Yeah!
Bob Brady (18:56):
Told me she has integrity and she can really do a job. And he also told me the most important thing, she’s loyal. And that’s the most important thing in this world, is somebody that’s loyal. So let me tell you what we need to do. We need to give him a great Philadelphia welcome. Now we’ve got press all out here. We’ve got to show that the proper respect that he showed us for over 50 years. So what I want to do, I’m going to introduce the President of United States, my friend and your friend, and I want everybody to say, “Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe!” The President of the United States, Joe Biden.
MUSIC (19:31):
[inaudible 00:19:31].
Audience (19:31):
Joe!
Joe Biden (19:31):
Hello, Philadelphia! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Audience (19:31):
Joe!
Joe Biden (19:31):
Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello!
Audience (19:31):
Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe!
Joe Biden (19:31):
Well, thank you.
Audience (19:31):
Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe!
Joe Biden (19:31):
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Audience (19:31):
Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Joe!
Joe Biden (19:31):
Look, folks.
Audience (19:31):
Thank you, Joe!
Joe Biden (19:31):
You know, I represented Delaware but I wouldn’t have gotten elected without Philadelphia and that’s the truth.
Audience (20:35):
[inaudible 00:20:35] Joe!
Joe Biden (20:35):
Thanks to Brian Bush and the sheet metal workers, Local-19, approached us tonight and along with the leaders of members of other labor unions across the country. Folks, I want to thank my good friend, Bobby Brady. You know… If you’re ever in a foxhole and you’re looking for help, you want him next to you, man. You know you’ve got great leadership in the state. Governor Shapiro, who I talk to all the time. Lieutenant Governor, two of the best in the nation. You’ve got two of the best U.S. Senators. And Bobby Casey is my hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania. And John Fetterman, who’s doing a tremendous job. He does better in short pants than most people do in long pants.
(21:23)
You have an incredible historic mayor in Cherelle Parker. Madam Mayor, thank you.
Audience (21:30):
Yeah!
Joe Biden (21:30):
Folks, we’re in the homestretch! Let me ask you, you going to reelect Bobby Casey to the U.S. Senate?!
Audience (21:34):
Yeah!
Joe Biden (21:36):
Are you going to elect Aaron McMullen State Treasurer?
Audience (21:41):
Yeah.
Joe Biden (21:41):
You going to elect Eugene… Hey, where… Is Eugene here?
Audience (21:44):
He’s here.
(21:46)
He’s on debate.
Joe Biden (21:47):
He’s in a debate? Well, I tell you what, you better elect him Attorney General. You’re going to elect my buddy Malcolm Kenyatta Auditor General. Most important, let me ask you, are you going to elect Kamala Harris President of the United States of America?! Folks, look, four years ago I picked Kamala to be my vice president. I picked her because she is smart and tough. She’s a first-rate district attorney out in California, an attorney general, and then U.S. Senator. But most of all, I picked her because she has character and she has integrity.
Audience (22:24):
Yeah! Yes.
Joe Biden (22:26):
Incredible. And, I must admit, I picked her because she had one endorsement that mattered most to me. My son, Beau Biden, was the attorney general of the state of Delaware, and I gave him my word before he left, headed off to Iraq for a year. He said, “Dad, I met the next generation, man.” He worked with her. He worked with Kamala. I’m not joking. As attorney generals, they worked together to take on the big corporations. And, folks he spent the next year stationed in Iraq with those God-awful burn pits. Size of football field and 10 feet deep. Incredible. Used it to incinerate everything from wastes of war to chemicals, tires, just like up in 9/11, all those firemen. Smoke thick with poison, spread through the air and the lungs of our troops and Beau, like many others, shortly after he got home, he was diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma, which is a death sentence.
(23:18)
He lasted for… Thank you, man. He lasted for a long while, but Beau was Attorney General of Delaware at the same time she was Attorney General in California. As I said, he told me, “Dad, she’s an extraordinary leader. She’s the next generation. Take a look at her, dad.” And she’s been that more to me. I’m one of the few people in America who’s been vice president and president, and I know both jobs, what they take. And I can tell you Kamala Harris has been a great vice president. She’ll be a great president as well. When I decided it was time to pass the torch to the next generation, I
Joe Biden (24:00):
I knew. I knew who I wanted to replace me. I endorsed Kamala immediately. And if you’ve seen the campaign Kamala’s run, it proves I am right. The enthusiasm went off the charts. Her convention was great. She beat Trump so badly in the debate, he’s scared to death to meet her again. That’s a fact. Tough guy, right? Tough guy.
Audience (24:19):
Tough guy.
Joe Biden (24:21):
Because he knows he’d lose again. That’s a fact. He is a loser.
(24:28)
Look, now I’m proud of our record the past four years. Maybe you saw Rachel Maddow last night who did a whole lot of, raised a lot of questions. You’re going to make business decisions about who’s doing a better job in the economy. She said the Biden-Harris economy has been not only left every other rich country in the world in the dust, it’s left the Trump administration in the dust. Well, folks, that wasn’t hard to leave him in the dust. I think he lives in the dust.
(24:55)
We created 16 million jobs, more jobs than have been created in a single term in all American history. More people are working today than ever before. Wages of working people are higher than they’ve ever been before. And more people have healthcare insurance than before. And what does Trump want to do if he wins? He wants to use his favorite word, terminate. No, I’m serious. This guy means what he says, man. He wants to terminate the Affordable Care Act. He’s been trying to succeed and he failed every time. If he does so, 40 million Americans will lose their healthcare. 40 million. And 100 million will lose their protections because they have preexisting conditions.
(25:37)
Trump likes to call himself pro-business. We all know Trump is a failed businessman. He inherited $100 million and he got bankrupt how many times I can’t keep track, including bankrupting the casino Atlantic City was pretty hard to do. How’s that possible? I thought the house always won. Trump wasn’t only a loser in 2020. He’s a loser in everything he does. Meanwhile, on our watch business of all sizes are surging. A record number of small business application is 19 million so far since we’ve gotten elected, and every single application is an act of hope.
(26:20)
Folks, remember when Trump got elected, if he got elected, the stock, he told them, “If I got elected, the stock market would crash.” I just wish. Hell, I was listed for 36 years as the poorest man in Congress so I didn’t have any stock. But anyway. But if he means the stock market crashed through record highs, he was actually right, as high it’s ever been in American history. And by the way, it must be irritating to a guy to turn to Fox News and hear the Biden-Harris stock market is stronger than ever in history.
(26:52)
Look, folks, unemployment has had historic lows for everyone, including Blacks and Latinos. We have the smallest racial gap, wealth gap in 20 years. Wages have grown faster than inflation for more than a year now. Inflation is down at 2.4%. In fact, it’s now back to pre-pandemic levels and still going down, not up, down. Along with interest rates are beginning to drop. The data shows the benefits of economic recovery are benefiting working and middle class folks more than the top. New data from the National Labor Relations Board shows the number of workers filing for union representation has doubled since I became president, doubled.
Audience (27:38):
Thank you, Joe.
Joe Biden (27:40):
You got it, man.
Audience (27:50):
Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe.
(27:50)
Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe.
Joe Biden (27:50):
My grandfather would roll over in his grave if I wasn’t … He’d said Joey, from Scranton, he’d say, “Joey, you’re union from belt buckle to shoe sole.” He said it a little more colorfully than that.
(28:03)
The Biden-Harris administration is the first administration in five decades to increase union petitions. Simple. They know, you know, Kamala and I know Wall Street didn’t build America. The middle class did. And unions built the middle class. That’s a fact. And I make no apology for being the most pro-union president in American history.
Audience (28:25):
Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe.
Joe Biden (28:28):
Folks, I mean it. Under our administration, we made the most significant investment in public safety in history. $15 billion for law enforcement through the American Rescue Plan. And not a single Republican voted for it. The result, violent crime is down to a 50-year low. The murder reached the largest ever reduction. And Trump’s response lie after lie that somehow the stats are fake. He says they’re making up the numbers.
(28:58)
Not only that. For weeks Kamala and I negotiated the strongest bipartisan border deal in American history. One of the most conservative senators from Oklahoma and a progressive Democrat from Connecticut worked four weeks on it, got it passed, introduced it into Congress. What happened? He funded more agents, judges, high-tech machinery and all the like.
(29:21)
But Trump knew it was a good deal. So he called for, he called, got on the phone and started calling Republicans to say, “You can’t vote for this because it will help Biden and hurt me.” He’s a great American, isn’t he?
(29:37)
So Trump and the Republicans killed the deal, but Kamala and I didn’t stop. We served resources, increased enforcement. We took executive action. We worked with Mexico, and despite all Trump’s friends say there are fewer border crossings today than the day he left office right now. But let me say it again, fewer coming into this country illegally as I stand right now than the day he left office, and we’re going to … And look, I got to say, Kamala will say she’s going to do more for comprehensive reform. That’s one of the main things that got to get done.
(30:11)
So let’s set the record straight. More people are working today in America than any time since Trump left office. That’s just a fact. More people have health insurance than when Trump was president. More people are earning higher wages. The stock market is even higher. 401ks are stronger. Violent crime is down. Murder is down. Fewer people are crossing the border. And Trump calls that a hellscape, talks about America being a failed nation. Where the hell is he from?
(30:40)
No, I’m serious. Think about it. A president calling America a failed nation makes me angry. I say America’s winning. We’re the most powerful nation in the world, the most respected nation in the world. And every other country in the world like to be like. Trump says we’re losers. But the only loser I know is Donald Trump.
(31:01)
Look, don’t get me wrong. There’s more work to be done. Kamala and I have specific plans to bring down the cost of housing, childcare, elder care and more. How we solve these challenges will help make the next president who’s president. Every president has to cut their own path. That’s what I did. I was loyal to Barack Obama, but I cut my own path as president. That’s what Kamala is going to do. She’s been loyal so far, but she’s going to cut her own path, how to further economic growth, how to keep making it easier to start and grow a business, how to make a border more secure, how to make healthcare even more affordable, how to make housing more affordable, how to make childcare and elder care more affordable. All of which if we do actually grows the economy and cuts the deficit.
(31:49)
Folks, Kamala will take the country in her own direction, and that’s one of the most important differences in this election. Kamala’s perspective on our problems will be fresh and new. Donald Trump’s perspective is old and failed and quite frankly, thoroughly, totally dishonest.
(32:05)
Look, what is it? What’s his idea for our economy? He says he wants to give another tax cut, a $5 trillion tax. That’s not a joke. A $5 trillion tax cut for the wealthy. Last time he did a $2 trillion tax cut and set the biggest debt, increased the national debt more than any other president has in any single term. And by the way, to pay his taxes to the wealthy, he wants to cut Social Security and Medicare.
(32:35)
Not a joke. Not a joke. In addition to terminating the Affordable Care Act, he wants to repeal what we did to lower prescription drug costs. He wants to bow down to Big Pharma again. Kamala finally beat Big Pharma. We gave Medicare the power to negotiate for prescription drugs like the VA does for veterans. Look, the VA and seniors with disabilities are now paying $35 a month instead of 400. And starting in January all the seniors on Medicare will have a total prescription drug cost capped at $2,000 a year, no matter how much they have to spend. Cancer drugs, excuse me.
Audience (33:27):
Not going back.
Joe Biden (33:29):
We ain’t going back.
Audience (33:29):
Not going back. Not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back. We’re not going back.
Joe Biden (33:57):
By the way, our Medicare reforms not only save seniors. The Medicare money I must say save the taxpayers $160 billion at one passage. Why? ‘Cause Medicare is paying 35 instead of $400 for example.
(34:16)
Trump wants to take all that away, but Kamala wants to expand everything so it exists for everybody in the nation. Look, she wants to cover the elder under Medicaid. Trump would get rid of the $369 billion Kamala and I passed, most ever in history of the world to deal with climate change. And by the way, no climate change out there, right? I just spent a week from Florida to North Carolina. It’s devastating. You know why? Because the ocean waters are warming, increasing significantly the threats of significant weather.
(34:53)
How does it make you feel after the last hurricane that have ripped through this country, knowing that we’re going to cut back on? Just look, Trump wants a new sales tax. A new sales tax, excuse me, on goods we import in significant numbers. Up to 85% of all the seafood we eat is imported. 60% of the fresh fruit. 40% of the vegetables. We import coffee, clothing, and so much more. And according to all the economists, if his sales tax were to in fact pass, the average family would have an increase in their cost of $400 a year or $4,000 a year. Excuse me.
Audience (35:37):
4,000, yeah.
Joe Biden (35:38):
4,000. And look, it’s a surprise that we got a guy who can’t afford to say the word union wants to get overtime and hardworking folks taken away. No, no, he’s doing it again. That’s what he says. He said he and his allies, they support workers in the middle class. Give me a break. Look, this is from the same guy
Joe Biden (36:00):
Guy calls himself a great protector of women.
Crowd (36:03):
Boo. Liar.
Joe Biden (36:08):
Come on.
Crowd (36:15):
Fire Trump again. Fire Trump again. Fire Trump again. Fire Trump again.
Joe Biden (36:16):
Folks, look, this is the same guy who’s been held liable for $83 million for sexual abuse and defamation. Same guy for getting rid of Roe v. Wade. The same guy who was three other major cases waiting for him when he loses. And by the way, 34 felonies so far. He got the sentence kicked back but I want to watch that sentence. Well, Donald Trump’s not running for you, he’s running for himself. I think he’s running to stay out of jail.
Crowd (36:51):
Yes, he is.
Joe Biden (36:51):
What’s he got left?
Crowd (36:53):
Nothing.
Joe Biden (36:53):
Trump’s whole campaign came down to demonizing immigrants. Called immigrants animals, saying they don’t have good genes, saying they poison the blood of our country. It’s sick. It’s designed to prey on our worst fears. It’s un-American. Think about it. Trump hides all his racism, used to, but now it’s just out front. He has the same ideas on race as 1930s. Trump’s ideas in the economy are from the twenties. Trump’s idea on women are from the fifties, and folks, this is 2024, we can’t go back.
Crowd (37:33):
Don’t go back. Don’t go back. Don’t go back.
Joe Biden (37:36):
You made too much progress. You have to keep moving forward. And folks, for all the talk about issues and policies is all important, the real measure of a president is character, integrity, judgment, temperament. Because here’s what I can tell you, every president is confronted with crises no one saw coming and in that moment what matters about a president is the president, does he have, does she have integrity? A code of honor that they live by. What belief system guides their decisions? How do they handle pressure? How do they respond when things don’t go their way? Will they uphold their oath and honor the Constitution? With Donald Trump, we know the answer. Just ask yourself, how did Donald Trump handle COVID crisis when he saw it coming? How we know from Bob Woodward’s book how Trump lacks character and can’t be trusted. Trump deliberately led the American people to believe that it wasn’t a dangerous thing, COVID. I remember how he told us to inject bleach. Remember that?
Crowd (38:45):
Yeah, yeah.
Joe Biden (38:45):
Bless me Father, in the middle of the COVID crisis, this guy gave Putin, it came out recently, he gave Vladimir Putin COVID tests who were desperately needed by Americans at home and he gave it to Putin. Trump cares most about kissing up to Putin then he cares about your sons and daughters. We lost over a million people in COVID. Think about how many we could have saved if it wasn’t for his pure incompetence and selfishness.
(39:17)
Think about the 2020 election Trump lost. Kamala and I beat him by 7 million votes, but Trump couldn’t accept it despite the rulings of more than 60 courts, including the Supreme Court. He embraced the big lie that threatened the lives of elected officials and poll workers. He sent violent mobs to the US Capitol on January 6th to stop a peaceful transfer of power. He sat in the dining room off of my present office, the Oval Office, and did nothing for three hours as police were being attacked and killed, lawmakers were forced to hide for their lives. According to report, when Trump saw the total mob was looking for Mike Pence to hang him, you know what Trump’s response was? “So what?”
Crowd (40:00):
Boo.
Joe Biden (40:02):
Let me tell you something. You can’t be pro-insurrection and pro-American. If you can’t denounce January 6th, you have no business being president. And look, Trump hasn’t changed. I would argue he’s gotten worse. Clearly, he lost the election in 2020, he snapped.
Crowd (40:23):
Yes.
Joe Biden (40:23):
No, I mean it. He become unhinged. Look at his rallies. Last night, last night, his rallies stopped taking questions because someone got hurt. And guess what? He stood on the stage for 30 minutes and danced. I’m serious. What’s wrong with this guy? Listen to him how he’s going to, after an institution democracy, if Trump is elected again, he says, he’ll use the justice department to attack his political enemies. He says he’ll fire 500,000 civil servants and replace them with Trump loyalists.
Crowd (41:02):
Boo.
Joe Biden (41:04):
He just said he could use the US military to go after US citizens he disagrees with, he said it. He still refuses to accept the results of 2020, and he refuses to accept the results of the 2024 election if he loses again. Look, folks, every generation faces a moment where democracy has to be defended. This is our moment. I believe in in my core when we beat Trump in 2020, when we beat Trump in 2020, we saved American democracy. Now we have to do it again in 2024.
(41:39)
Folks, let me close with this, more than anything in this election, we have to decide who we want, what we want in America to be. Who is America? Kamala will be a President who believes in America, that still stands for the core proposition that stated this nation, started this nation right here in Philly where the Declaration of Independence was signed, where the Constitution was written, where we determined the power of institutions of government are determined by the power of the people, the power based, the very idea of America, we’re all created equal, deserve to be treated equal through our lives. We’ve never fully lived up from it but unlike Trump, we’ve never walked away from it. And I’ll be damned if we’ll walk away from it now.
(42:23)
Folks, we got a lot of work to do, especially here in Pennsylvania, especially in Philadelphia. How you go and what you turn out is going to determine the outcome of this election. We have to talk to our friends, our families, our neighbors, our coworkers. We have to beat back the lies with truth. And most of all, we have to vote and get out to vote. Philadelphia, are you ready?
Crowd (42:51):
Yes.
Joe Biden (42:51):
Let’s get this done. Let’s remember who we are.
Crowd (42:54):
Yes.
Joe Biden (42:54):
We’re the United States of America and nothing, nothing is beyond our capacity when we act together. God bless you all and may God protect our troops. Thank you.
Speaker 4 (43:06):
Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe. Thank you, Joe.
Joe Biden (43:30):
By the way, I married a Philly girl.
